If you are visiting Little India’s heritage area, then Krishna Kitchen is a soup kitchen located in the alley opposite the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple. They provide free (and delicious) Indian vegetarian meals, given the appreciation of the large South Asian immigrant population in the Singapore construction industry.
More than 600 breakfasts and lunches are served weekly for anyone on foot and they even offer dinner on Sundays when many workers take days off and fill the streets of India. Most of these workers have little salaries, and try to save as much money as possible to move home.
If the oscillator has a free morning, join in to help with some vegetables and finely chopped. You don’t need to have any professional cooking skills, and you might be surprised by the people you meet on a delicious dal dish (Indian lentil curry), briyani (a mixed rice dish), pakora ( a perfect spice and crunchy Indian snack), or a chef’s surprise based on ingredients from a local food rescue organization that helps keep their kitchen stocked.
Stay to taste your labor fruit, and leave a small donation if you can.
